what really makes you fat

I am so seriously addicted to eating it’s not even funny.  But you know how it is.  If you’re an alcoholic you have to stop drinking.  If you’re addicted to painkillers you have to get off them.  But you can’t stop eating.

Or can you?

Recently I started reading and listening to Jason Fung, a medical doctor–nephrologist, actually– in Toronto, who has been getting his diabetic/obese patients to fast with great success.  So almost three weeks ago I decided to just dive in and try it.  Obviously I’m leaving out a whole lot of backstory, but I’ll get to that later.  I decided to start fasting on Thursday morning, February 2, 2017.  I ate almost nothing until Saturday evening, February 4, at which point I had lost almost five pounds.

I fasted again the next week, this time truly eating nothing but buttered coffee and bone broth, for 72 hours.  During the second fast I quite literally lost all interest in food.  Right now I’m in my third fast which I’m planning to maintain for 72-96 hours.

I feel fine.  My energy is great.  I’m sleeping very soundly.  My brain and memory are noticeably clearer.  It’s hard to say exactly what my weight loss has been, because it goes down so much while fasting, and then goes back up somewhat after I’ve  eaten normally for a couple of days, but I estimate I’m down about six actual pounds.
